Welcome !!

Welcome to the Natural Energy Resources Ltd website for energy-saving products based on solar energy.

We are a young company dedicated to developing a range of products utilising renewable energy sources within our Natural Resources Group product range.

We recognise that a number of companies have jumped onto the "green bandwagon", some of whom are providing false information and grossly over-charging, while using dubious selling techniques from the bottom end of the double-glazing industry  -  you have been warned !

Natural Energy Resources Ltd is a professional organisation, whose principals have many years experience in manufacturing and commercial businesses handling technical products, and operating within the UK and world-wide.

Our website demonstrates this professionalism  -  it is structured firstly to provide information to help our customers understand  the principles and benefits of harnessing solar energy.
This section is followed by detailed descriptions of our products and their key components, and then by sections devoted to a series of application notes and diagrams.

Our objective is to enable you, our customer, to have as much information as you may require during your consideration of solar energy, from a brief summary to gain an understanding through to in-depth technical data  -  you select the level of detail you want to view.

Please keep our website book-marked  -  we will be refining the site and adding new data and products as we continue to develop our Natural Resources Group range of products.

You will always be welcome.

PLEASE NOTE  -  parts of this web site are still under construction

Solar Energy = Free Energy !!

The sun is a 6,000ºC fireball that radiates huge amounts of energy that can provide clean renewable energy for home, work and leisure  -  FREE !

Scientists have calculated that in 40 minutes of daylight the sun radiates onto Earth the amount of energy consumed by the planet’s 6.5 billion inhabitants in one year.
Surprisingly, here in the UK the radiated energy we receive from the sun is actually 60% of that received at the equator.

This radiated energy is not just limited to those times when the sun is shining - even on an overcast or cloudy day we continue to receive solar energy via diffuse radiation.
It amounts to an average of 1,000KWh on every square metre of our land over a year  -  the equivalent of 1,000 free power stations.

Solar Energy - The Benefits

Nearly every day, the headlines say it all  -  the cost of energy, whether electricity, gas or oil, is continuing to increase at an alarming rate.
Oil has increased 10 times the amount it was 10 years ago; gas has trebled over the last 3 years; and electricity just keeps rising.

These are huge increases, and it just makes sense to make as much use of renewable energy sources as possible  -  with the added benefit of supporting our environment through reduced CO2 production.

The average property in the UK uses some 3,000 KWh of energy per year for domestic hot water heating, of which some 50 / 75% is for hot water at the taps, shower, etc. The balance is for heating.

During the summer an efficient solar heating system can provide up to 100% of a household’s hot water requirements.
This reduces to a contribution of some 10 / 20% during the middle of the winter, giving an average contribution of some 60 / 70% through the year.

In terms of carbon dioxide emissions, each square metre of a solar power installation represents a saving of some 250Kg of the CO2 produced by conventional power stations every year.

These benefits have now been properly recognised by the government, and planning restrictions for solar heating systems have recently been lifted  -  permission is now only required for installations on listed buildings or houses within a conservation area.

The recent introduction of “Energy Certificates”, which are now required when a property is put on the market, is another important consideration.
A modest investment in solar heating will not only reduce the cost of your hot water  -  it could also increase the value of your home.

The Europeans have already "Got It !"

Other European countries have already proved the benefits and are now utilising solar energy to a much greater extent than we do.
Germany and Austria now produce some 25 times more KWh per head of population from solar energy than the UK, while Denmark, Sweden and Holland produce some 20, 10 and 7 times as much, respectively.

These countries have a similar climate to the UK  -  they are neither “sunnier”, nor do they enjoy a Mediterranean climate !

The European market has actually doubled in the last three years, and the installation rate is increasing rapidly, with 3 million square metres of solar collector area added during 2006 alone.

Here in the UK we are now beginning to recognise the benefits  -  during 2006 we had the highest growth rate throughout Europe !
Our newly installed capacity almost doubled over the previous year, but at only 2% of Europe’s total, this clearly demonstrates the potential savings that we can achieve.
